SELF DRIVING CARS FROM GOOGLE

Google has reportedly made a driverless car, without steering wheel or brake pedals, which is driven entirely by variety of on-board computers and sensors. Cars can now drive themselves if Google’s project in building their self driving car is a huge success.

Google said that the program is currently in a prototype phase and they will make nearly 100 of these two seat autonomous cars for testing purpose. In 2015, Google hopes that 100 of these two-seaters will be on the roads for extensive testing.

Google's goal with the self-driving car program has been to develop vehicles that are safer than the ones driven by humans. There would be no gas and brake pedals but these cars can only make use of sensors and computing power, with no need for human aid. Nearly 1.2
million People die from auto accidents every year, and Google believes it can trim the number by 90 percent using 'auto driving vehicles'.

However, these cars are not going to be for sale and would be provided to select operators for further tweaking and have limitations such as a 40-kilometer-per-hour top speed. This announcement is presenting a challenge to makers of automobiles who have always dreamt of cars that would drive themselves.

It should be known that some other companies are working on this project but Google is the biggest of these companies. However, Google did not reveal their partners on the project, and said that a lot of work is to be done on the vehicle.

To date, Google has driven hundreds of thousands of miles on public roads and freeways in Lexus SUVs and Toyota Priuses outfitted with special sensors and cameras. But with a “safety driver” in the front seat, those vehicles were not truly self-driving.
